Position Overview:
We are seeking a driven, self-motivated Contract Logistics Business Development Manager on behalf of a leading global logistics and supply chain organization. This role is designed for a sales professional with deep expertise in warehousing and contract logistics solutions. Reporting directly to the Director of Contract Logistics & Transportation, you will act as a key driver for business expansion in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)—focusing on Brampton and Mississauga—while supporting account growth nationally. You will balance "hunter" and "farmer" responsibilities (approx. 25% new business acquisition, 75% account cultivation) to maximize ROI across state-of-the-art warehousing facilities.
Advantages:
- Competitive Total Compensation: Base salary between $95,000 – $110,000 paired with an uncapped volume-based commission structure, bringing total expected earnings to $120,000 – $130,000.
- Comprehensive Benefits Day 1: Health, dental, vision, life insurance, and AD&D coverage with zero waiting period.
- Retirement Savings: RPP with a 100% company match up to 5% of gross earnings.
- Generous Paid Time Off: 18 total days of paid time off (10 vacation days + 8 personal days).
- Ramp-Up Support: Structured 3-month onboarding plan including job shadowing, systems training, and ongoing executive mentorship.
Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Canvas the GTA market to identify, prospect, and secure new warehousing clients, targeting mid-to-large-scale accounts ($100k+ annual account value).
- Account Management: Cultivate and expand relationships within an assigned customer portfolio, identifying upsell and cross-selling opportunities across ocean, air, overland freight, and customs brokerage.
- Sales Process Ownership: Lead the preparation, presentation, and negotiation of RFIs, RFQs, bids, and rate quotes.
- Client Engagement: Maintain active field engagement with a target of at least 2 key client meetings per day (in-person within a 2-hour drive radius, or virtual based on client preference).
- Pipeline Management: Document all sales activities, appointments, quotes, and pipeline progress accurately within the internal CRM system.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with operations, implementation, and finance teams to ensure seamless customer onboarding and problem resolution.
- Occasional Travel: Visit key branch locations across Canada (such as Surrey, BC) 2 to 4 times per year for site tours and client reviews.
Qualifications:
- Industry Experience: Minimum 3+ years of field sales or account management experience within the warehousing, contract logistics, or international freight forwarding industry (required).
- Warehousing Expertise: Strong understanding of warehouse solutions, storage, inbound/outbound operations, transloading, and supply chain management.
- Track Record: Proven ability to manage complex sales cycles (ranging from a few months to a year+) and achieve consistent revenue growth.
- Role Mindset: Comfortable balancing structured account management with proactive outreach ("farmer" + "hunter" skill set).
- Communication & Presentation: Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills with comfortable ease in negotiating at executive levels.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CRM platforms.
- Licensing: Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle (covered via a $750/month car allowance).
